The
ancient Finns roamed the forests on wooden skis fashioned from birch
and the Lapps sped across the snow in reindeer sleighs. Nowadays we
head for the fells on snowshoes, following the gullies carved by the
melting Ice Age snow for about three kilometres up through the
rugged scenery of Ylläs. This leisurely pace allows us time to
observe the world around us, and with any luck, we may catch a
glimpse of the ancient spirits of Lapland. We stop for hot drinks
round an open fire in a fell shelter.
Duration about 2,5 hours.
Price 46 € per person, which includes the guidance,
return transportation from the village, snowshoes and sticks, hot
drink and lot of information about the Lapp spirits and nature.
Minimum 4 persons.
