Reindeer round-up is an important yearly event for reindeer owners. They get their paid when part of the reindeers gathered in a corral will be slaughtered. At Sami’s Reindeer Farm in Venejärvi we have a chance to participate in a reindeer round-up with the real reindeer owners’ experience.

After the welcoming we will drive over a hundred reindeers through fences to the corral where owners throw the Lapp lassos to catch the reindeers. Then they give vaccinations and check animals’ health. Earmarks tell who is the owner of the reindeer.
After hot coffee with questions about reindeers beside an open fire we are ready to jump in a reindeer sleigh to go for a speedy half kilometres’ round. In an old log house we can see an exhibition about life in the reindeer farm with articles and aquarelles.

Duration approx. 4,5 hours. Price 109 €  / person including transportation (about 80 km one way), guidance, reindeer round-up programme, reindeer sleigh ride and coffee with a pastry. 
Minimum 10 persons. 

Extra charge 35 €  / person if 3 kilometres reindeer safari included. Soup lunch in the main building 16,50 €  /person.
